KENDRA DUSHAC MCCARTHY
is a professional dance artist, health counselor and wellness expert living in busy Midtown Manhattan with her husband and their rescued terrier puppy. She established The Balanced Palate in 2011 to support busy individuals like her that needed help in reaching their personal health and wellness goals. While establishing her career in dance she struggled with the juggling act of working on Wall Street by day and rehearsing by night. She also worked in bartending, catering, waitressing and various odd jobs that left her stressed, tired and frustrated! This exhausting lifestyle of a shape-shifter
left her with a coffee addiction followed by poor food choices and insomnia. But eventually she found a better way to be happy!
Kendra has a BA in Dance and Gerontology from Slippery Rock University, formerly studied Dance Education at Kent State University and trained with The Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, Point Park College and The Governors School for the Arts among others. She graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition
in 2011 and is a member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. Kendra is currently a principal dancer with The Mosaic Dance Theater Company
, specializing in dance styles of the Mediterranean cultures. Kendra is certified in Pilates Matwork, Integrative Nutrition, Tahya Technique-Healing Dance Therapy
and is currently undergoing certification in Essential Oils, Advanced Holistic Remedies and Holistic Remedies for Beauty and the Household. She has performed with the Verlezza Dance Co., Ursula Payne, LE Therapy Salsa Dance Co.,The UN CultureProject, Bodiography Contemporary Ballet, Princess M’hoon Cooper, Teena Custer, Sue Hewitt and CheckitDance NYC. In addition, she has taught various dance styles and wellness workshops in New York City, New Jersey, Pittsburgh, PA, Wilmington, DE and Cleveland, OH, where she also taught for the Cuyahoga County Board for Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.
